Dr. Wiley S. Adams, aged 54, prominent Cherokee physician, passed away last Thursday morning at the South Highlands infirmary, Birmingham, Ala., where he had been ill for the preceding ten days and after having been ill for the past three months. The deceased was a native of Sikes, La., having gone to Cherokee in 1909, immediately after his graduation from the University of Georgia, where he received his M. D. degree, and opened his practice there, remaining in the West Colbert city ever since. He was a member of the Chief Colbert Masonic Lodge No. 814, at Cherokee, and of the Zamora Temple in Birmingham; of the Colbert County Medical Association, the State and National Medical Association, and the Baptist Church in Cherokee. His many friends in this section will learn with the deepest regret of his passing. Dr. Adams is survived by his wife, five daughters, and one son; three brothers, I. A. Adams of Florence, Watson Adams of Sikes, and Chester Adams of Ft. Worth, Texas; five sisters, Mrs. Rube Parker and Miss Elizabeth Adams of Sikes; Mrs. Tom Griffin and Mrs. Ethel Griffin of Truxno, Ark., and Mrs. Rosa Smith of Quitman, La. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the family residence and interment was made in the Barton Cemetery.
