Adams, of Sikes, Died At Her Home Friday Death has claimed another of our best friends and neighbors in the person of Mrs. Rachel Elizabeth Adams, better known as Aunt Sis, wife of N. S. Adams. Aunt Sis had lived all her life in Winn Parish and in the same community. Aunt Sis was born June 6, 1854 and departed this life Friday, April 13, 1928, age 73 years, 10 months, and 7 days. She was married to N. S. Adams December 25, 1873, and to this union were born 13 children, of which six are still living. Aunt Sis joined the Baptist Church at Old Fellowship in 1875 and has been a devoted church member and a Christian unto the end. She was laid to rest in the Sikes Cemetery Saturday, April 14, 1928. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. B. Gates, pastor of Sikes Church, and was attended by a large crowd of relatives and friends. Aunt Sis is survived by her husband, Mr. N. S. Adams, better known as Uncle New Port, and six daughters, Mrs. J. I. Lawrence of Rayville; Mrs. Alice Gates, Mrs. Delila Thompson, Mrs. Lizzie Gates, Mrs. Ella Gates, and Mrs. Emmalee Jordan, all of Sikes; and her two sisters, Mrs. Jasie Boles of Sikes and Mrs. Mary Thomas of Chatham, and one brother, Mr. Alic Fatheree of Gerard, La.
