Last Rites For Archie Allen Held June 29

Archie L. Allen, 94 (?), of Winnfield, died at 12:25 p.m. Thursday in a
Shreveport rest home after a short illness.

Funeral rites were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29, in the Southern
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Broadway officiating.  Burial was in
Zion Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was a native of Bienville Parish but a longtime resident of Winn
Parish.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church
where he served on the board of deacons.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Jerry Allen of Shreveport and Byron
Allen of Chicago, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. A. M. Dickerson and Miss Lola
Allen of Shreveport, Mrs. Lee McGowen of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Maurice
Whitlow of New Orleans; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
