In a circle around the bed we watched in deathly silence until he turned the corner, and was swallowed up in the shadows of eternity. There were no contortions on is face that said he felt pain, he only lay with halt closed eyes that were set on things in another world, his breath came short and even, as though little was needed. Nurses felt in vain for his pulse, there was none. But his heart untired for only the two score and eight years of it's work, lumbered on and on and on, until the blood stream was so filled with poison form the disease that knows no cure, that strength was gone. In vain this Noble Organ tried to force this precious fluid from lungs to brain and back again. Thus, died James Boyd Alexander. Let us not weep for him, rather for those who die without belief in God, let us drop a tear. Born June 1, 1904, Jim was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish. Besides a host of friends, he is survived by his wife, Oza Connor Alexander, two daughters, Mrs. R. D. Skains, Jr., of Delhi, and Leonard Alexander of Winnfield; his mother, Mrs. H. G. Alexander of Hodge, three brothers, Joe and Cecil of Hodge, and Tom of Minden, and two sisters, Mrs. Claude Hayes and Mrs. O. J. Hayes, of Minden. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Laurel Heights, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, G. A. Connor presiding. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home.
