Allen Saturday June 17 Funeral Services Held Sunday At The Family Graveyard Near Home Funeral services for Mrs. Columbus C. Allen, who died suddenly at her home near Winnfield Saturday morning, June 17, 1933, were held at the family cemetery Sunday, with the Rev. Wilson of Pleasant Hill, Rev. Ab McMurry and Rev. Henry Lewis, conducting the service. Although Mrs. Allen had been in ill healath for a number of years she was able to be up and seemed in good spirits the day before death came. Mrs. Allen was born in Winn Parish near Beech Creek, September 25, 1862, and was before her marriage Clarissa Clementine Boyett. She was the last of a large family. She was married to C. C. Allen, January 6, 1881. Nine children were born to this union. Two preceded her in death, Mrs. W. W. Gunn and Dewey K. Allen. The deceased is survived by her husband, C. C. Allen, and the following children: Mrs. W. L. Smith, Sikes, La.; M. M. Allen, I. L. Allen, Mrs. G. W. Taylor, Mrs. F. M. Cox, Route 2, Winnfield: C. W. and ___________ Allen, Winnfield. Also, twenty-eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive. Mrs. Allen became a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near Pollock in 1879, remaining faithful until death. She was a devoted mother, leading a busy life until the end. She lived with her husband and children aat the old family home near Pleasant Hill since January, 1892, where she will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends.
