(Bud) Allen, Obit September 21, 1961, Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites For M.M. Allen Held Saturday, Sept. 16 M.M. (Bud) Allen, 78, lifelong resident of Route Two, Winnfield, died in a local hospital September 14, 1961, after a long illness. He was a retired farmer and timber man and was widely known throughout this area. Funeral services were conducted at Hixson Brothers Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 16, with the Revs. Robert Gage, Willie James and C.C. Martin officiating. Burial was in the Old Union cemetery under direction of Hixson. The following grandsons acted as pallbearers: Floyd Allen, Atlanta; Gene Porter and Loyd Smith, Lake Charles; Robert Moss, Sulpher, Raymond Boullion, Vinton, and Willie Doherty, Winnfield. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Allen, Vester Skains, Rayford Roark, Harwell Allen, John Riley and Matt Milam, all of Winnfield. Survivors include five sons, R.C. Allen, Vinton, La., Earl Allen, Lake Charles; J.L. Allen and Max Allen both of Winnfield; Marvin Allen of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Mrs. Robert Kraft, Mrs. George Porter, both of Winnfield; Mrs. Stacy Smith, Lake Charles; Mrs. Chester McMillam, Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, C.W. and Ira, both of Winnfield; two sisters Mrs. Nesa Smith, Winnfield; Mrs. Frank Cox, Ida, La.; 20 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren.
