The Southern Sentinel (Winnfield, LA), Friday, October 4, 1901
DIED: — At the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Albritton, in ward two, 
Winn Parish, La., on Thursday, Sept. 26, 1901, GEORGE ALBRITTON, aged about 18 
years.

He was out hunting with his brother and while standing on a log the gun 
accidentally fell off the log and fired, the whole load entering the right side 
of the abdomen and ranging upward to the left side, killing him almost 
instantly. George met death cool and deliberately, telling his father and 
brother that he was going to die and for them to break the gun and take care of 
his horse and saddle and for his brother to be a good boy. He crossed his hand 
and passed away in the presence of his parents and one or two others.

George's father moved to this country from Texas about one year ago and we all 
found George to be an upright boy. He made many warm friends here and I 
sincerely mourn with the bereaved family.

It was to-day that many came
And bore our George away;
Tears did flow from every eye,
For it was a mournful day.

For him the family all did grieve,
For the loss of a lovely son;
His friends did mourn in deep distress,
For a beautiful life had just begun.

George leaves a father and mother and several brothers and sisters to mourn his 
death, but I say to the bereaved, weep not for he is resting on the white sunny 
banks of sweet deliverance, where the toils of life are over, and we must humbly 
submit to the will of the Most High.

George's bright smiles and cheerful sociability will be missed but we must 
prepare to meet him in the far beyond.
