Ms. Allen, was head of the Speech Pathology Department of The Children's Hospital of New Orleans, and had been published in peer review journals. She was active in the D.A.R. , Colonial Dames, and the Mensa Society. She was an actress having appeared in various movies including: JFK, The Big Easy, Dining in New Orleans, Guest of The Emperor, Silent Cries and The Day After. She is the daughter of the late Columbus and Caroline (Long) Allen. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Clinton, Gilbert, and Kay Allen; two sisters: Vona, and Monita Allen. Survivors include: two nieces Carolyn Breaux and husband Raymond of Iota, and Eileen Allen of San Francisco, Ca.; one nephew: Kendall Allen and wife Debra of Dodson; two great nieces: Tara Wise of Winnfield and Susan Boyett of Dodson; five great nephews: David Hebert and wife Janet of Branch, Darryl "Booger" Hebert and wife Lisa of Evangeline, Jarrod Breaux and wife Kim of Iota, Cade Breaux and fiancee Crystal of Abbeville, Derek "Turtle" Breaux and wife Amanda of Maxie; one great great niece: Lindsey Breaux; twelve great great nephews: Scott, Christopher, Dakota, Tanner, Dylan, and Beau Hebert, Tyler, Ashton, Kayne, and Holden Breaux, Austin and Toby Wise. Funeral services for Ms. Allen will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2007 in the Chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with Rev. Elton Gunter. Interment will follow in the Allen Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until time of services.
