Pallbearers Listed For Allen Brothers Funeral Here December 30

Final rites for John Dale and Joe D. Allen, sons of Mr. and Mrs. H. Earl Allen
of Lake Charles, and grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Gresham of Atlanta, and
Mr. Bud Allen of Route 2, Winnfield, were conducted December 30 at the
Southern Funeral Home.  Officiating were the Rev. Ernest Walker, Rev. Earl D.
Mercer, and Rev. Ray Teal.

Burial followed in the Atlanta Cemetery.

Acting as pallbearers were Murrel, Dale, and Clyde Gresham, Lloyd Smith, Gene
Stratton Porter, all cousins of the deceased, and Troy James, Marvin and Bobby
Wayne Horne, Jerry Miller, Frank Bandy, Phillip and Clyde Lang.  All
pallbearers were classmates of the Allen youths, who met their deaths in a car
accident in Illinois December 27.  Also killed in the accident was their
cousin, Dalton Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Allen of Route 2, Winnfield,
whose last rites were conducted at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with
burial in the Allen Cemetery.

Attending the funerals were hundreds of relatives and friends coming from all
over Louisiana and numerous other states.
