Bryant Allen Dies At Utah AFB Of Heart Attack Major Bryant R. Allen, 43, native of Joyce, died from a heart attack at the Ogden Air Force Base, Utah, September 6. He was the son of the late Mrs. Leitha Allen and Walter Ray Allen. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Alexandria with burial following in the National Cemetery in Pineville, with the Chaplain of that Cemetery officiating. Military honors marked the last rites. A graduate of the Winnfield High School, Bryant was employed for a number of years as linotype operator at the News-American. He enlisted in the Air Force early in 1942, and at the close of World War II returned to civilian life in the Reserve, but was called to active duty in January, 1951. For eight years he was stationed at McChord AFB in Tacoma, Wash., then one year on the Island of Einewetok, and was then assigned to the Ogden, Utah Air Base, where he remained until his sudden death. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Roger, Robert, and Steven; three daughters, Deborah, Mary, and Barbara, all of Ogden, Utah; three sisters, Mrs. Rayford Roark, Winnfield, Mrs. Jewel Canerday, Calvin, and Mrs. Clifford Thompson, Baton Rouge.
