Allen, 83, Is Claimed By Death March 30 Last Rites Conducted At Family Graveyard Saturday Columbus C. Allen, 83, a life-long resident of Winn Parish, died suddenly while on a visit at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Cox, in Rodessa, La., Thursday night. The remains were brought to Winnfield Friday and last rites were conducted at the family graveyard near Pleasant Hill on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. J. H. Lewis of Route 2, Winnfield and the Rev. H. A. Jones of Wheeling conducted the services. Acting as pallbearers were: J. W. Allen, a great nephew, and seven grandsons, Conley, Earl, R. C., Clinton, Bryant, C. W., and Ardell Allen. Mr. Allen, known all over the parish as "Lum" was active until his death, although he had retired from farming a number of years ago. His wife, Clemintine Boyett Allen, preceded him in death. Surviving are four sons and three daughters: M. M. Allen, I. L. Allen, Route 2, Winnfield; C. W. Allen, Winnfield, and W. R. Allen, Baton Rouge; Mrs. W. L. Smith, Sikes; Mrs. George Taylor, Route 2; and Mrs. Mary Bell Cox, Rodessa. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Rosa Wade, New Verda, and one brother, Charlie T.
