Miss Julia Allen, Former Resident, Is Buried Here

Graveside services were held here Wednesday at 10 a.m. for Miss Julia Allen,
69, who died March 10 in New Orleans after a long illness.  Dr. W. L. Holcomb,
pastor of the Winnfield First Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the
family plot at Winnfield Cemetery.

Funeral services were held in New Orleans on Tuesday afternoon with the Rev.
Myron C. Madden, pastor of the St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church, officiating.

Miss Allen, who made her home in Winnfield for a number of years with her
sister, the late Mrs. R. D. Bevill, Sr., is survived by a sister, Mrs. Blanch
Monrose of New Orleans, with whom she lived for 40 years.  Her parents were
the late Carrie Prothro and James J. Allen.  She was also the sister of the
late Dr. Morgan Allen of Leesville and the late Mrs. John Bates of Texas. 
Surviving are a number of nephews and nieces.

Hixson Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of services at Winnfield.
