K. Allen, Jr. Held Here Monday Funeral services for Oscar K. Allen, Jr., 39 year old son of the late Governor O. K. Allen were held here Monday at 3 p.m. Mr. Allen died at his camp on Saline Lake on October 3, after a short illness. Mr. Allen was born May 9, 1915, in Winnfield, and has recently been a resident of Shreveport. He is survived by a son, Oscar K. Allen III of Shreveport, one daughter, Amy Allen of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Joyce Love Stare of Boston, Mass., one brother, Asa Benton Allen of Boston, Mass., and a host of uncles, cousins, and other relatives in Winn Parish. Officiating at the funeral at the First Baptist Church was the pastor, Dr. W. L. Holcomn, with Harwell L. Allen speaking also. Burial was in the Allen Cemetery plot in Winnfield, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. The remains lay in state at the Hixon Chapel prior to the funeral. Pallbearers were Earnest Seago, Frank Wright Grigsby, Robert P. Johnson, Palmer Long, J. M. Breedlove, Kelly Peterson, Warren Allen, Harvey Broyles, I. L. Bilbray, and Ira Green.
