W. Allen Mrs. Weezie Allen, after a long illness, died at the age of 60 on Thursday, November 10, 1977 at 5:40 p.m. in a local hospital. Mrs. Allen's full name was Louise May Radescich Allen, but all who knew her called her fondly and simply "Weezie." A native and lifelong resident of Winnfield, Weezie was born on February 5, 1917, the daughter of the late Lydia Susan Talton Radescich and Dr. A. W. Radescich. The Radescich family was one of the earliest of the pioneer settlers of this area. Her father, Antoine W. Radescich, was the first white child to be born in the then newly formed Winn Parish. She was married in 1940 to Jerome Walter Allen, also a Winnfield native of pioneer heritage, who died in 1966. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Allen, also of Winnfield. Mrs. Allen was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield. She was also a member of the Spicer-Wallace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of the Dames of the Magna Charta of Washington, D. C. Funeral services for Mrs. Allen were held in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 1977 with Rev. Grayson Watson and Rev. Robert Gage officiating. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Weezie is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Donald R. (Jaye Lou) Chandler and Miss Denise Charlotte Allen, both of Winnfield; her father, Dr. A. W. Radescich of Pineville, La.; one brother, Andrew Will Radescich of Winnfield, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Campbell of Opelika, Ala., and Mrs. Sue d'Aquin of Arabi, La. She also had four nephews and three nieces. Pallbearers were Dickie Heard, John Glen Jackson, Frank L. Shaw, Jr., John W. Brister, Jr., Judge Hiram Wright, and Bobby Stephens.
