Allen, 73, died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, July 29 after an illness of several weeks. She was a native of Grant Parish but had spent most of her life in Winnfield. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at the Winnfield First Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. R. H. Staples, officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mrs. Allen was a devout member of the Methodist Church and was active in the missionary societies. Survivors are one son, Bryant R. Allen, Clearfield, Utah; three daughters, Mrs. C. E. Thompson, Baton Rouge; Mrs. Jewel Canerday, Calvin; Mrs. Rayford Roark, Winnfield; two brothers, Willie and DeLeon Bryant, both of Montgomery; four sisters, Mrs. Jim Jackson, Montgomery; Mrs. Elizabeth Reeves, Monroe; Mrs. Willis McIlwain, Winnfield; Mrs. Niece Williams, Ferriday; and 10 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dennis Shell, Denton Shell, Harold Roark, J. W. Wroten, Jim Russell, Jr., and D. L. Dunklebarter.
