Melton, at Packton, La., at 4:30 p.m., June 3, 1914, Marrie Ann Allbright departed this life aged seventy-four years. She was taken ill Sunday afternoon, but no one thought her seriously ill until Tuesday afternoon; then all medical efforts failed, and she passed away Wednesday afternoon very quietly. She leaves many friends and relatives to mourn her loss. She joined the Methodist church in her early days, and lived a true Christian up to her death. Funeral services were held at the Tyson cemetery, Thursday June 4, 1914 at 3:30 p.m., by Rev. Joel B. Durham, after which her remains were lowered to its last resting place. ( Footnote added by submitter: Mary Ann Allbright was born November 5, 1831 at the Allbright Prairie homesite located in present Winn Parish just SW of the Old Military Road (Claiborne Road) / Macedonia area. Her family was the earliest known settlers of this area, having emigrated from Georgia into present lower Grant Parish prior to 1814. John Allbright (10/10/1789 NC - 6/1877) and Rose Ann Fleming Allbright (10/20/1790 Ga - 4/1875) were married in 1811 and had 13 known children. Two of her sisters; Elizabeth (3/15/1820 - 8/15/1857) and Caroline Charlotte (11/11/1833 - 5/15/1865) were wives of James Edward Tyson and are buried at the Tyson Cem. Her brother; John Adrine (2/08/1828 - 2/18/1908) is buried at Liberty Chapel Cem. Mary Ann never married and lived her later years at the home of her niece, Louisiana Laurette (Tyson) Melton. She was an early member of the Atlanta Methodist Church. Markers for her, her sisters and James E Tyson were placed at the Tyson Cem. by submitter. Burial locations for the other Allbright family members is unknown. )
