Max Allen, 50, Dies Thursday In Houston, Tex. Lonnie Max Allen, 50, of Winnfield, died Thursday morning, June 10, 1971 in a Houston, Texas, hospital while undergoing open heart surgery. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Allen, pioneer residents of Winn Parish, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been employed by Louisiana State Department of Highways for approximately 25 years. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the First Methodist Church with the Rev. J. C. Skinner and the Rev. W. R. Gage officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Russell Allen; four brothers, R. C. Allen of Vinton, Earl Allen of Lake Charles, Marvin Allen of Franklinton, Lazell Allen of Winnfield; four sisters, Mrs. R. L. Kraft and Mrs. Josie Porter of Winnfield, Mrs. Stacy Smith of Lake Charles, and Mrs. Chester McMillan of Little Rock, Ark. Pallbearers, nephews of the deceased, were Perry Allen, John T. Porter, Loyd Smith, Jamie Kraft, Kent Dark, James Russell III, Robert Charles Williams, and James Corley. Honorary pallbearers were Crusaders for Christ Sunday School Class, V. F. W., and employees of the Highway Department.
