Allen Enroute Home The remains of Pfc. Jamie B. Allen, son of M. M. "Bud" Allen of Route 2, will be among the remains of 4,183 Americans who lost their lives during World War II, being returned to the United States from Europe aboard the USS Army Transport Lawrence Victory, the Department of the Army announced May 6. Armed forces dead originally interred in temporary military cemeteries in France are among those being brought back to this country. A total of 50 remains are being returned upon instructions of next of kin residing in Louisiana. Arrival of the vessel will be announced by the New York Port of Embarkation. Pfc. Jamie B. Allen was killed in France February 22, 1945. A member of the 42nd Rainbow division, Seventh Army, he wore the combat infantryman's badge, and his family received the Purple Heart after his death. He was a graduate of the Winnfield High School in the class of 1943 and he entered service May 26, 1944. Surviving are his father, M. M. "Bud" Allen, Route 2, Winnfield; five brothers, Max, Marvin, Earl, R. C., and Lazelle; and four sisters, Mrs. Stacy Smith, Mrs. Robert Kraft, Miss Annie V. Allen, and Mrs. George Porter.
