Allen Reburial services for Private First Class Jamie B. Allen, son of Mathew M. "Bud" Allen of Winnfield, Route 2, will be held at the Old Union Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, with the Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Military funeral services will be conducted at the grave. Remains of PFC Allen are scheduled to arrive in Winnfield at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon, May 28. PFC Jamie B. Allen was killed in France on January 22, 1945. He was a graduate of Winnfield High School, class of 1943, and had entered the Army May 26, 1944. He wore a combat infantryman's badge and his family received the Purple Heart after his death. Born near Winnfield on January 6, 1925, Jamie was reared and educated in Winn Parish. Surviving are his father, Mathew M. "Bud" Allen, Route 2, Winnfield; five brothers, R. C. Allen of Benton; Earl Allen, Atlanta; and Lazelle, Max, and Marvin, all of Winnfield; and four sisters, Mrs. Stacy Smith, Lake Charles; Miss Annie Allen, Mrs. George Porter, and Mrs. R. L. Kraft, all of Winnfield. Members of the Winn Parish National Guard unit will serve as pallbearers and will conduct military rites. PFC Allen is the second Winn Parish youth who died during the war who has been returned home for reburial services. No. 2 Final Military Rites For Pfc. Allen Held Sunday Final military rites for Pfc. Jamie B. Allen, killed in France during World War II, whose remains arrived at the home of his sister, Mrs. R. L. Kraft, Winnfield, last Friday, were held at the Union Church Sunday at 2 p.m., witnessed by a large crowd of relatives and friends. Impressive military services marked the ceremony, attended by the National Guard, which gave the gun salute and taps, under direction of Clinton Allen. Also represented at the funeral were several units of the V. F. W. of the Eighth District, under the leadership of State V. F. W. Commander, Casimir Moss, and the local V. F. W. Auxiliary. Music was rendered by the choir of the Union Church, directed by Mrs. Riley Creel. Rev. Alwin Stokes and Rev. St. Andrie conducted the services. Burial was in the Old Union Cemetery under direction of Hixson. Active pallbearers were Theron Lovell, Adonis Creel, Richard Porter, Hezzikiah Porter, Huey Melton, and Louis Lane. Pfc. Allen was the son of M. M. "Bud" Allen of Winnfield, Route 2.
