Well Known Character Would Have Been 79 Years Old Xmas Eve Gus Anderson, well known character about Winnfield was found dead in his shack across from the state highway barns on Wednesday morning by his friend, "Hobo Bill," who he spends each winter with. Gus has been a familiar figure around Winnfield for fifteen or twenty years and was for about seven years night watchman at the highway barns. For the past one and one-half years he has devoted his time to his garden and to raise chickens. According to information told to his friends he came to this country from Sweden when he was fifteen years of age. He often remarked that he had no folks at all. At one time Anderson was a well-to-do road contractor. He was also at one time connected with a railway company building bridges and dumps. He would have been seventy nine years of age on Christmas Eve. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at ten o'clock at the First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the local cemetery.
