W. R. Gage officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Applewhite died Sunday, June 10, 1979 in his home after a long illness. He was an elder and trustee of First Presbyterian Church, a pharmacist, and he managed the Winnfield Utility Department many years. He was a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M., a member of Palestine Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and a 32nd Mason and Shriner. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Applewhite of Winnfield; a sister, Mrs. Mary Farris of Brookhaven, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Edward Powell, E. J. Buchanan, Will Radescich, Jack Gaar, Edwin McIntyre, Gordon Stewart, Dan Bowker, and Dick Watts.
