Mrs. Atkins was instrumental in organizing the first Vacation Bible School in her church; and was a charter member of the New Calvary Baptist Church on Highway 84 East where the body was laid to rest in the new cemetery. She lived nearby the church and during the past year worked almost daily inside the building, painting, cleaning, planning, or outside on the grounds. She contributed much in Christian training and education in her church and will be greatly missed by the host of friends and loved ones she left behind.
