Austin Services for Jessie C. Austin, 78, of Winnfield, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Laurel Heights Baptist Church with the Revs. J. P. Miles and Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery under direction of Southern. Austin died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 1983 in Lincoln General Hospital, Ruston. He was a native of Winn Parish and a former employee of the Carey Salt Mine. He was a member of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church, where he served as custodian for 18 years. Survivors include his wife, Eunice R. Austin of Winnfield; seven daughters, Margaret Durbin of Goldonna, Marjorie Mendoza of Monroe, Myrtle Louise Duke and Elaine Bridges, both of Lake Charles, Jeanette Sullivan of Winnfield, Ione Renaud of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and Linda Farquhar of Holland; four brothers, W. J. Austin, Lonnie Austin, both of Winnfield, and Evan Austin of Silsby, Texas; five sisters, Eva Thompson, Laura McCain, and Josie Gaar, all of Winnfield, Zelma Donaldson of Jonesboro, and Vera Deloney of Springhill; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
