Allen Claimed By Death Last Friday P. M. Oldest Member of Allen Family Dies at Rodessa Columbus C. Allen, age 82, oldest member of the Allen family in north Louisiana, died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Cox, at Rodessa, Friday afternoon about six o'clock. The remains were brought to his home place at Pleasant Hill Saturday morning, from where funeral services were conducted, followed by interment in the family cemetery. The Rev. J. H. Lewis, lifelong friend of the deceased, conducted the services. Mr. Allen was a member of the Baptist Church, holding his membership at Old Union, which he helped organize and where each year in September the Allen- Caves reunion is held. Mr. Allen was a native of Winn Parish, the sone of Max Allen and Elizabeth Caves. He was born on September 23, 1857 and after growing to manhood engaged in farming, which claimed his interest until a few years ago when failing health forced him to retire. His wife, the former Miss Clemmie Boyett, preceded him in death several years ago. Serving as pallbearers at the last rites were his grandsons, R. C. Allen, Bryant Allen, C. W. Allen, Ardell Allen, J. W. Allen, Earl Allen, Clinton Allen, and Conley Allen. Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Will Smith, Sikes, Mrs. Frank Cox, Rodessa, and Mrs. George Taylor, Pleasant Hill; four sons, Ray Allen, Greenwell Springs, Ira Allen, Pleasant Hill, Wilma Allen, Lecompte, and Bud Allen, Pleasant Hill; one brother, Charlie Allen of Monroe, and a sister, Mrs. T. F. Wade, Verda.
