Black Dies After Long Illness Funeral services for Amos J. Black, 68, of Grayson, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Old Hebron Baptist Church with the Revs. R. C. Weatherford and Oscar Bradford officiating. Mr. Black lived in the Hebron Community for the last 35 or 40 years. He married Susie Hinton, a sister of Mrs. B. E. Thigpen. He was a sawmiller by profession and was a native of Jacksonville, Texas. He came to Sikes during the time of the tomato industry there. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Black died Wednesday, May 2, 1973 at Greenville Springs Hospital following a long illness. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Susie Black of Grayson; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Buckley of Grayson; four sons, Travis Black and Jimmy Black, both of Grayson, Wilbur Black of Olla, and Paul Black of Columbia; two brothers, Luther Black of Sicily Island and Claude Black of Winnsboro; two sisters, Mrs. J. T. Kenworthy of Grayson and Mrs. Elmer Graves of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were Alvin Pepper, Huey Baum, Ray Buckley, Wayland May, Charles Antley, Doc Martin, Glen Hinton, and James Nutt. Out of town friends and relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. Elma Graves of Houston, Texas, James Earl Black of Morgan City, Mr. and Mrs. Autrey Richardson of Crowville, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Black of Winnsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Black of Sicily Island, Mrs. Katie Hendershott, J. N. Hinton, Mrs. Bennie Thigpen, Mrs. Hollis May, all of West Monroe, James and Tillman Winnberry and Mrs. Lois Richardson of Urania, and Mrs. and Mrs. Marion Simons of Winnsboro.
