O. Baker, 71, Held Here Jan. 6 Funeral services for Edward Oatis Baker, 71, who died at his home in Winnfield Friday at 5:40 p.m., after many years of illness, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, with the pastor, Dr. W. L. Holcomb, officiating. Burial was in the Melton Cemetery near here. Acting as pallbearers were J. J. Crippen, Harper Terrill, Lloyd Trawich, Eli Harrell, Ulysses Grigsby, and G. M. Collins. Mr. Baker was a retired lumberman and was a former night marshal for the City of Winnfield. A native of Mississippi, he lives most of his life in Louisiana and had been a resident of Winnfield for 29 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Julia Wise Baker of Winnfield; a son, Robert E. Baker of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. W. B. Alford, Sr., of Hazelhurst, Miss., and Mrs. H. A. Marsh__ of Slidell; and one grandchild.
