William J. Barton, Sardis Octogenarian, Is Buried Tuesday

Funeral services for William Jasper Barton, 85, who died at his Sardis
community residence on February 17, were conducted at the Sardis Church at 11
o'clock on February 19, with the Rev. F. M. Shows officiating.  Interment was
in the Sardis Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers funeral directors.

Born in Winn Parish, Mr. Barton is survived by three sons, John Barton of
Gilbert, Bud Barton of Dodson, and Mac Barton of Trout; three daughters, Mrs.
R. L. Coburn, Pineville, Mrs. Lena Shoemake, Atlanta, and Olive Barton of Oak
Grove; one brother, E. R. Spikes and a number of grandchildren, six of whom
served as pallbearers.
