All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Miss Ruth Barham Dies Suddenly At Ruston Friday 16 Popular Young Lady Passes Away While On Visit To Sister The sudden death of Miss Ruth Barham at Ruston Friday morning, Sept. 16th was a great shock to her many friends and relatives. Miss Barham had made her home in Winnfield for the past two years and operated a beauty shop in connection with J. C. Long's barber shop. Hers was a genial and happy disposition that made friends readily and she was very popular. She was born and reared in Union Parish. Her father and mother died when she was very young and she made her home with her sister, Mrs. C. O. Kilpatrick of Ruston. At the age of fifteen years she joined the Baptist Church at Shiloh, Union Parish, of which she was a consistent member until her death. Her last illness was not considered serious and she was only sick a few days, having gone to the home of her sister, Mrs. Kilpatrick ,in Ruston last Sunday where death claimed her very suddenly Friday morning. Funeral services were held in Ruston Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful, the final tribute of love from a host of sorrowing friends. The deceased is survived by five sisters and three brothers: Mrs. C. O. Kilpatrick, Miss Ida Barham, and Mrs. Joe Maybury of Ruston; Mrs. C. E. Smith and Mrs. J. L. Sterling of Baton Rouge; Dewitt Barham of Bernice, J. T. Barham, Ruston, and Floyd Barham, Dubach.
