Barton of Sardis Claimed by Death Funeral services for Mrs. Charles B. Barton, 49, of the Sardis community, who died Friday, June 22, 1945, at her home following a lengthy illness, were held at the Sardis Baptist Church Monday, June 25, at 2 p.m. Services were conducted by the Rev. T. T. Edwards and the Rev. Henry Mott, and burial was under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. A native of Grant Parish, Mrs. Barton had resided in the Sardis community for the past 20 years, and was a consecrated member of the Macedonia Church. Surviving are her husband, a son, Charles Alvin, who is in the U. S. Naval Training School, San Diego; a daughter, Mrs. Ocea Roberts of Winnfield; and another son, Sgt. Virgil Barton of the South Pacific; and three grandchildren. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Brosn of Dry Prong; two brothers, Ezra E. Brown, Tullos; Elmer Brown, U. S. Navy; five sisters, Mrs. Jess Williamson, Colfax, Mrs. E. H. Murrell, Monroe; Mrs. J. B. Tullos, Mrs. Edd Walker and Miss Georgie Brown, Dry Prong.
