O. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in New Orleans for 11 year old Charles Thomas Barnes, who was killed early Monday when struck by a station wagon on Chef Menteur Highway near Fort Pike. Burial was in a Slidell, La., cemetery. The youth was the nephew of Mrs. Cecil McCarty and Mrs. E. M. Townsend of Winnfield, and the youth's mother was the former Miss Lottice Creel of Winn Parish. The boy was killed when he apparently ran into the pat of an oncoming station wagon driven by a Negro, police said. The youth had been attempting to cross Highway 90 to wait with friends for a school bus. Among those attending the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McCarty and Mrs. E. M. Townsend of Winnfield and Mr. and Mrs. Grady Creel of Winnsboro.
