Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, officiating. Interment was at the Six Bits Cemetery near Montgomery with Edmonds Funeral Home in charge. Acting as pallbearers were U. B. Carpenter, Herman Bass, Ed Price, Wendell Holmes, Frank Dow, T. K. Smith, and Clyde Hammons. Barnes was a plumber by trade. He moved to Winnfield with his parents in 1920. His father has been dead a number of years. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. R. M. Barnes; one brother, M. D. Barnes of Chatham; three sisters, Mrs. L. J. Fitzgerald of West Monroe; Mrs. Leroy Edmondston, Pineville; and Mrs. V. M. Free of Winnfield.
