H. Barr, Dodson, Succumbs; Buried In Jackson Parish Last rites for James Hardy Barr, 77, of Dodson, who succumbed in a Winnfield hospital at 2:45 a.m. January 3, 1958 were held at the Dodson Baptist Church Saturday at 2 p.m. Mr. Barr had been in ill health for a long time. Rev. Edgar Cripps and Rev. Rufus Kitchingham officiated at the last rites. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Jackson Parish, under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Roscoe Tullos, Gordy Thomas, Martin Barr, Edwin Barr, John Baker Barr, and Warren Barr. Mr. Barr, a retired farmer, had been a lifelong resident of Winn and Jackson Parishes. He had served many years as a deacon in the Dodson Baptist Church until his retirement because of failing health. Besides his widow, Mr. Barr is survived by two sons, James W. Barr, Atlanta, La., and Murphy Barr, Hico; three daughters, Mrs. Donald Turner, Winnfield, Mrs. Shelby Phillips, Jonesboro, and Mrs. Herschel Curry, Leesville; one brother, John M. Barr, Ruston; and 11 grandchildren.
