Funeral Rites For Accident Victim Held

Funeral services for Bryant Derwin Bartley, 15, of Jordan Hill Community, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Bartley, were held Friday, September 17, at 10 a.m. at
Big Creek Baptist Church.  Rev. Willis Russell, pastor of the church
officiated, assisted by Rev. Willie Broadway.

Interment was in the Jordan Hill Cemetery.

Young Bartley was killed in an automobile accident Wednesday, September 15, on
the Jordan Hill Road.

Young Bartley was born at Sikes and attended school there until three years
ago when the family moved to the Jordan Hill Community.  He was said by a
relative to be an accomplished artist and an honor student.

He was a sophomore at Winnfield Senior High School and was very active in the
Big Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, two sisters, Jeanette Rolen of West Monroe,
Mrs. Sylvia Cummings of Monroe, and a grandmother, Mrs. George Cole of Urania.

Pallbearers included Brad Jordan, Mike Mercer, Ricky Moore, Leroy Jones,
Lonnie Wayne Higgs, Joe Bruce, Larry Bruce, and Lavelle Bartley.
