W. J. Barton, 85, Sardis, Is Dead

William Jasper Barton, 85, died at his home in Sardis Community Sunday, Feb.
17.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Sardis Baptist Church
with burial in the Sardis Cemetery, under direction of Hixson Funeral Home of
Winnfield with Rev. Showers officiating.  Pallbearers were his grandsons.

Mr. Barton is survived by three sons, John Barton of Gilbert, Bud Barton of
Dodson, and Mack Barton of Trout; three daughters, Mrs. R. L. Coburn of
Pineville, Mrs. Lenn Shumake of Atlanta, and Olive Barton of Oak Grove; one
brother, E. R. Spikes of the Sardis Community and a number of grandchildren.
