Basco, 77, Succumbs Here March the 29th Last Rites Were Conducted At Oak Grove Cemetery Captain Eugene Basco, aged 77 years, 7 months, and 29 days, died at the home of his younger daughter, Mrs. Hattie Moorhead, in Winnfield at 11:30 p.m. March 29, 1939. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louisa Basco, Boyce, La.; seven children, Mrs. Hattie Moorhead, Winnfield; Mrs. Loula James, Bordelonville, La.; Mrs. Leola Dowthy, Boyce, La.; Mrs. Nwalie Bumpers, New Iberia, La.; Mrs. Lela Walker, Boyce, La.; Mrs. Hymas Basco, Natchitoches, La.; and Mr. Walter Basco, Boyce, La. Twenty seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted at Oak Grove Cemetery at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 1939. Pallbearers were Fred Shackleford, Clint Moorhead, Bill Myrick, Marshal Morris, Jones Baker, and Brother Alwin Stokes.
