All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Cornelia Bass, 63, Died Suddenly Saturday Morning Found Dead In Bed By Her Daughter, Miss Vera Bass Mrs. Cornelia Gallman Bass, age 63, died at her home here early last Saturday morning. her daughter, Miss Vera Bass was sleeping with her and her passing was not known until Miss Bass awoke. She had been in failing health for several months. The deceased was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with membership at Ruston and was the widow of M. C. Bass, who was a Presbyterian minister. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor, and assisted by Dr. B. C. Land and Dr. O. L. Tucker. Interment was made in the local cemetery. Mrs. Bass is survived by two sons, B. O. Bass and W. A. Bass of Winnfield, two daughters, Mrs. D. A. Gilbert of Bastrop and Miss Vera Bass of Winnfield; two stepchildren, Mrs. J. M. Bullock of Selma and H. B. Bass of Palmetto. Other surviving relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Della Taylor of Hubbard, Texas, and Mrs. Ollie Cockerel of Mississippi; three brothers, Orvil Gallman of Hubbard, Texas, J. T. Gallman of Ruston, and Alfred Gallman of Rayville.
