Funeral services were held Friday at 11 p.m. in the Teagle Cemetery with Rev. Harrison Cockerham of Route Two, officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Pallbearers were Huey Franks, Mack Varnell, Sam Ford, Paul Waites, Henry Franks, and Edward Jordan. Mr. Bass was a member of the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church. He was born Dec. 9, 1879 at Coldsprings, Texas. For the past several years he has been a farmer in Winn Parish. Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Varnell Bass, of Route Three, Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Sam Tolbert of Corrigan, Texas; and Mrs. Howard Maxey of Woodlake, Texas; one brother, Austin Bass of Orange, Texas; and eight grandchildren, all of Texas.
