Georgie S. Bates, 69, of Calvin died Wednesday, November 17, 1976 in a local
hospital after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Bates were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Bethlehem
Baptist Church with the Revs. Wilmer Jordan and Earnie Yocum officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home
of Winnfield.

Mr. Bates was a native of Calvin, a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church
and a retired employee of the state highway department.

Survivors include his widow, Julia Bates of Calvin; one daughter, Mrs. Dessie
Long of Calvin; four brothers, A. W. Bates and Earlie Bates, both of Calvin,
Henry Bates and Clarence Bates, both of Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth
Key and Mrs. Emmie Simmons, both of Calvin, and Mrs. Clara Foster of
Shreveport; and one granddaughter.
