All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 17, 1957 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Final Rites held For George Bates At Bethlehem Funeral services for George Bates, 81, lifelong resident of the Bethlehem Community, Winn Parish, who died Tuesday night, Oct. 15, in a local hospital, were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Jewel Canerday officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Prominent in community, parish, and church affairs, Mr. Bates was a Mason and a member of the Bethlehem Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rose Bates, Bethlehem community; six sons, C. L., A. W., E. O., G. S., all of Route 3, Winnfield, Henry and C. D., Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. M. J. Canerday, Calvin, Mrs. Curtis Key and Mrs. J. M. Riffe, Rt. 3, Winnfield; Mrs. Albert Foster, Shreveport; 23 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He also leaves four brothers, Everett, Jerry, and Simon Bates, all of Castor; Willie of Ringgold; two sisters, Mrs. Aimie Russell and Mrs. Mary Outz, both of Castor.
