Funeral services were held at the home of the deceased Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock and interment was in the Bethlehem cemetery. Mr. Bates was a member of the Baptist church with his membership at Bethlehem. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eddie Jones Bates; two children, J. C., and a several month old baby; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bates; four sisters, Mrs. Marshal Canerday, Mrs. Curtis Key, Mrs. Murray Riffe, and Miss. Clara Bates of Route Four, Winnfield; and six brothers, Clayton, Clinton, Early, George, Jr., Henry and Clarence Bates, all of Route Four, Winnfield.
