Beck Services for Robert E. Beck were held Friday in the chapel of Osborn, Shreveport, with the Rev. George Latimer officiating. Burial was at 2:30 p.m. in Old Winnfield Cemetery, Winnfield. Beck, 62, of Shreveport, died Wednesday, September 11, 1985 in Riverside Hospital. He was a native of Winnfield and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1978. He was a graduate of Louisiana College and did post-graduate work at Georgia State University. He was a graduate of the U. S. Naval Post-Graduate School, which had branches at Annapolis, Md., and Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. He retired as a captain in the Navy in 1971 and had served as chief of staff in communications electronics for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Supreme Allied Command, Atlantic Area and deputy chief of Defense Communications Agency in the Pacific area. He was a member of the Petroleum Club, Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club, and Barksdale Air Force Base Officers Club. He was an independent petroleum land man after his retirement from the Navy. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Bray Beck of Shreveport; one sister, Mary Nell Milam of Winnfield; and one brother, Charles L. Beck of Lafayette. Pallbearers were Richard Clarke, Hubert Gleason, Malcolm Murchison, Bill Satori, David Williamson, and Roger Davis. Memorials may be made to the charities of donors' choices. Among those from out of town attending graveside services were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clarke, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Gleason, Charles Murchison, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Satori, Roger Davis, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Pershern, all of Shreveport. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beck and Miss Kathy Beck of Lafayette; Dr. and Mrs. Charles Beck, Jr. of New Orleans; Gene Beck of Baton Rouge; Dr. and Mrs. Michael Milam of Winnsboro; Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Milam of Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Wyatt of St. Maurice; Mrs. A. B. Poole of Tyler, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Eagles of Pineville; Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Lowe of Mansfield; and Thomas Durham of Alexandria.
