All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 17, 1927 Winn Parish Enterprise Joe Lee Beck Joe Lee Beck, age 47 years, died at his home in Winnfield at 6:20 a.m. last Monday after a period of several months' illness. Mr. Beck came to Winnfield with his parents from Athens, La. when a boy and grew to manhood here attending the schools of Winnfield, along with the other boys of the town. His father was deputy clerk of court for many during "Uncle" Bob Jones' incumbency in that office. When the railroads came to Winnfield and the building boom started the town to growing Mr. Beck engaged in the carpentering and contracting business which he followed until stricken with the illness from which he succumbed. He leaves his wife and three children, J. L., Jr., W. J., and Vera Beck and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Olive Connor. He was buried in Winnfield Cemetery Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., Rev. A. H. Cullen, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducting the funeral services. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. W. O. Williams, a sister, of Shreveport; Willie Beck, a brother, of Oil City; Mrs. L. P. Mosley of Trees, La.; C. L. and E. O. Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Barnes, of Calhoun; Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Barnes of El Dorado, Ark.; Mrs. J. W. Barnes of Calhoun.
