All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 22, 1929 Winnfield News-American Mrs. Mollie Bell Claimed By Death Sunday, March 17 Mrs. Mary Alice Long Bell, one of the best known and well liked women of the entire community, was claimed by death Sunday morning March 17th, at 6 o'clock following an illness of several weeks. "Mollie" Bell, as she was lovingly called by her hosts of friends, was born near Winnfield February 6th, 1886, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Long. On September 9th, 1906, she was married to John Y. Bell who died in 1920. Two children both of whom survive were born to this union. With the exception of a few years residence in El Paso, Texas she resided in this section all her life and her lovable personality and sunny disposition won hundreds of friends who were deeply grieved to learn of her continued serious illness and then of her passing on last Sunday morning. In childhood she became a Christian, uniting with the Baptist Church and has lived a loyal and consecrated Christian life. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church Monday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. A. H. Cullen and a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives were present for the last rites, both at the church and the cemetery, coming to pay a tribute of love to the memory of a wonderful character. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful, attesting to the tender regard in which the deceased was held by her many friends. Surviving the deceased are her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Warner, a son, John Y. Bell, Jr., her mother, Mrs. Fannie Long, five brothers, Rufus H. Long of Winnfield, Wade H. Long of Shreveport, W. E. Long of Trees, Dr. A. D. Long and J. W. Long of El Paso, Texas, and three sisters, Mrs. Lula Tannehill and Mrs. L. F. Morrison of Winnfield and Mrs. J. T. King of Brady, Texas.
