All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 26, 1931 Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral Services for Henry Bernstein Held in Monroe Member of One of Winn Parish's Most Prominent Families Passes Away at Monroe Home Funeral services for Henry Bernstein, 68, who died suddenly at his home in Monroe Tuesday morning from a stroke of apoplexy, were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at his residence in Monroe. Interment was made in the Riverview Burial Park. Rev. Winans Drake, pastor of the First Methodist Church, and Rabbi F. K. Hirsch, officiated at the services. Active pallbearers were Allan Sholars, John Potts, F. G. Hudson, Louis Milner, F. F. Millsaps, Dr. J. Q. Graves, T. C. Roland, and Murray Hudson. Mr. Bernstein was born in Grant Parish (at the time of his birth, it was Winn Parish) on December 8, 1863. He was educated in the public schools largely in Winn Parish, and later attended Soule College, New Orleans. After this he entered Tulane University where he was graduated with the class of 1886. At the time of his death he was a member of the firm of Hudson, Potts, Bernstein, and Sholars, of Monroe. Mr. Bernstein was married years ago to Miss Cherry Roberts of Winnfield, who survives as do two sons, who are Milling Bernstein and Henry Bernstein, Jr., both members of the same firm as was their father. The deceased is also survived by a sister, Miss Nettie Bernstein, of Winnfield, a brother, Mr. Julian Bernstein of Winnfield, an aunt, Miss Nina Marx, of Winnfield, and two brothers, Mayor Arnold Bernstein and Mrs. Marcus Kaliski. Mr. Bernstein was an honored member of the Monroe Bar Association, and the Fourth District Bar Association of the Fifth Judicial District.
