All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Last Rites for Miss Nettie Bernstein Held in Monroe Miss Nettie Bernstein, who spent most of her 87 years in Winnfield, died in a Monroe hospital Thursday, Nov. 5. She has been in failing health for some time. Funeral services were held under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home, with the last rites conducted in Hixson Chapel, Monroe, on November 6 at 3:30 p.m. Rabbi Herman Buss of Monroe officiated. Interment was in Monroe Jewish Cemetery. Miss Bernstein was born in Montgomery, the daughter of Phillip Bernstein and R. Mark Bernstein. The family moved to Winnfield when she was a small child and her father was one of the early settlers and the first merchant of Winnfield. Miss Bernstein is survived by two nieces, Mrs. F. M. Goldsmith of Monroe and Mrs. M. Roby of Newellton; two nephews, A. Milling Bernstein and Henry Bernstein, Jr. of Monroe.
