E. Berry Held Wednesday Silas Edgar Berry, a resident of Winnfield for the past twenty years, died at his home Tuesday morning, June 13th, at _:15. The deceased, who was born in 1892 near Nacogdoches, Texas, was stricken suddenly with a heart attack and died before the family physician arrived. Funeral services were held at the family residence on Elm Street at four o'clock, Wednesday afternoon and interment followed at the Winnfield Cemetery, Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. H. H. McBride and Lavelle Kennedy of the Baptist Church. The deceased is survived by his wife and four children, Mrs. Leon Roberts of Alexandria, Mrs. Lurline Thompson, Miss Shirley Berry, of Winnfield, and Pvt. Marshall Berry who is with the U. S. A. in England; a brother, Robert Berry of Dallas and three sisters, Mrs. Donnie Morris, Dallas, Mrs. Dick McKennedy, Lufkin and Mrs. Ola Mae Davis, Dallas; and S. N. Berry of Lufkin, Texas, father of the deceased. Pallbearers were A. J. Richardson, Herbert Garrard, Willard Adams, Arnold L. Sikes, Harper Terrell, and Mr. Thompson, the latter, of Jena.
