D. Bevill After Long Illness Funeral Services Were Held at The Home Thursday Afternoon Following a long illness, R. D. Bevill, Sr., 73 years of age, prominent lifelong resident of Winnfield, died at his home here Wednesday morning at 7:45. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock with Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in charge. He was assisted by Dr. B. C. Land, pastor Baptist Church and Rev. G. A. Morgan, pastor Methodist Church. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of Walsh's funeral home. Pallbearers were John W. Teddlie, P. K. Abel, Walter W. Allen, C. McGinty, Mack L. Branch, Lee Grigsby, J. E. Carter, Matt Milam, and Bryant Sholars. R. D. (Rodden) Bevill was born in Winnfield, March 22, 1864, the eldest son of James Riley and Mary Ellen Bevill, pioneer residents of Winn Parish. He was married to Miss Maude Allen of Winnfield and they reared a large and useful family. Mr. Bevill was engaged in the oil business with his son, R. D., Jr. in the Georgetown field, and was active in business until his health failed him about six months ago. Surviving are his wife, five sons and two daughters, James, R. D., Jr., and Joe and Miss May Bevill of Winnfield; Miss Carrie Maude Bevill of New York City, Jared Bevill of Kilgore, Texas, and Bob Bevill of Taft, Texas.
