M. Retired Lawyer, Short Story Writer Native of Virginia William L. Bibb, retired lawyer and author of short stories, who for the past year had lived in Winnfield, passed away after a heart attack at his home Saturday evening. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. A. Morgan, pastor of the First Methodist church, and interment was in the local cemetery. A native of Virginia, Mr. Bibb attended William and Mary College in that state, and received the bachelor of law degree from the University of Virginia. He practiced before the bar for 20 years. Mr. Bibb came to Winn Parish from Texas and made his home in Dodson, where he began his literary career. His first story told of the life of Will Purvis, a Mississippian who narrowly escaped being hanged. Coming to Winnfield after his Dodson home was destroyed by fire, Mr. Bibb sold several other stories to the popular magazines. He was also interested in politics and other public affairs. Surviving are his widow and one sister, Mrs. Tom Quarles of Washington, D. C., an uncle, Rev. C. E. Woodson, rector of Christ's Episcopal Church of Vicksburg, Miss.
