B. Bice In Winnfield Funeral services for Obedia Bice, 60 years old, who died Tuesday, were held at the Baptist Church in Winnfield Wednesday morning. The Rev. J. D. Kitchenham, pastor of the Joyce Baptist Church, officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. A. H. Cullen, pastor of the Baptist Church of Winnfield. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Mr. Bice was born in Coosa County, Alabama, on April 1, 1868. His parents moved to Montgomery, La., when Mr. Bice was a baby. They lived near Montgomery several years. The old Bice home was in the Couley settlement, where Mr. Bice spent his childhood. Mr. Bice's father was J. M. Bice, well known farmer of Couley. Mr. Bice moved to Winnfield about a year ago, from Calvin. In the latter town he owned and operated a filling station. He also spent a number of years as a farmer near Verda, and in the mercantile business in Atlanta, La. In 1903, Mr. Bice was married to Miss Velie Santiford (Sandifer), who survives him. One son, Roscoe Bice, of Winnfield, born of this marriage, also survives him. Mr. Bice's first wife, Miss Della Little, of Mississippi, whose death left motherless, one son, Herbert Bice, of Winnfield. Those who survive Mr. Bice are as follows: his wife and two sons, and a grandson, Winnfield; his brothers, John T. Bice and W. J. Bice of Calvin, and A. D. Bice of Ruston; his sisters, Mrs. Lena Little of Minden and Mrs. Ellen Chandler, of Montgomery. For many years, Mr. Bice had been a loyal member of the Baptist Church. He lived in Winn Parish practically all his life, where he leaves many friends who are grieved to learn of his death. Out of town members of the family who attended the funeral were Mrs. Lena Little, of Minden; Mrs. Ellen Chandler of Montgomery; John T. and W. J. Bice of Calvin; and A. D. Bice of Ruston.
