J. Bice of Calvin May 31 Funeral services for Mrs. W. J. Bice, 65, of Calvin, who died at her home Sunday following a stroke last Wednesday, were held at the Calvin Baptist Church Monday, May 31, 1948, at 3 p.m., with the pastor, Rev. F. M. Shows, former pastor of the church. Interment was in the Couley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Arlin Bice, Roscoe Bice, Asa Martin, Jack Glyn Bice, Oswald Teddlie, and Herman Worsham. Born near the Jerusalem Church site, Mrs. Bice spent her entire life in Winn Parish. She was Miss Minnie Alice Teddlie before her marriage, the daughter of the late Asa Teddlie, said to have been the first white child born in Winnfield. Her mother died at Hargis one and a half years ago. At an early age she became affiliated with the Baptist Church and remained a devoted member throughout her life. Besides her husband of Calvin she leaves one daughter, Mrs. Elmo Anderson, Calvin; two sons, A. J. Bice, Calvin, and C. C. Bice, of Dallas; four sisters, Misses Ada and Addie Teddlie, and Mrs. Tena Worsham, of Hargis; and Mrs. Hettie Drewett of Montgomery; one brother, M. E. Teddlie, Hargis. Nine grandchildren also survive.
